Read like a cheetah
Leo shows your books one word at a time, right where your eyes already are. No more wandering lines, just you and the story, at the speed of your mind.
Leo settled by the window and let the story run toward him. At first it took effort to keep up, but soon he discovered something: his mind could go much faster than he had ever believed. Each sentence arrived at the right moment, never early, never
What the studies actually say
On a normal page, your eyes jump several times a second. Each jump is a chance to lose your place. Leo brings every word to the same spot, so your eyes can stay put.
Rubin & Turano (1992): reading was faster with RSVP than with text on a page. Most of us read 200 to 250 words per minute on paper. With a fixed point and a pace you control, 300 to 600 words per minute becomes comfortable with practice.
You can change the speed at any moment. Leo never rushes you.The honest answer: at moderate speeds comprehension holds up; at extreme speeds it drops for everyone. That is why Leo hands you the control instead of forcing a number.
Potter (1984): comprehension was maintained at moderate RSVP rates.A single word on screen means there is nothing else to look at. RSVP has been used in attention research for decades precisely because it keeps your gaze on one point.
Forster (1970): the original RSVP reading experiments.Your reader, your rules
Theme, font, size, letter spacing, everything you tweak here is exactly what the app offers. Go ahead: this whole section obeys you.

Why Leo and not another speed-reading app?
Questions, answered

Does Leo include books?
No, Leo is a reader, not a store. You import your own EPUB and PDF files and Leo turns them into a speed-reading experience.
Does it work with Kindle books?
Kindle uses a closed format, so not directly. DRM-free EPUB and PDF files work perfectly.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone, for now. That focus lets us make the reader feel truly native.
Will I understand what I read at higher speeds?
Studies show comprehension holds at moderate RSVP speeds and drops at extreme ones. Leo gives you full control of the pace, plus punctuation pauses, so you find your own sweet spot.
Which languages does the app support?
The interface is in English, Spanish and French, and you can read books in any language.
How much will it cost?
To be announced. The waitlist will be the first to know, and the first to try it.
